Answer from the WA Secretary of State (declining and sending to WA Attorney General)

You can read below how the Secretary of State extremely fast declines to do anything and sends to the WA Attorney General.

I therefore immediately filed a very similarly worded complaint. We'll see what it brings but I doubt there will be any corrective measure taken by the WA Attoreny General either. So my next step concerning elected officials will be to reach out to WA Senators or House Representatives and I invite you to do the same. We'll see if they are able to engage with REI-COOP board of directors or if they let them act as they please.

Good morning,

Thank you for your email. Our office does not have legal or investigative authority to go after businesses engaging in bad business practices. Our office is purely ministerial in its handling of corporate and charitable registrations as well as their annual report filings. Any reporting of businesses engaging in bad business practices should be reported to the Attorney General’s Office of Consumer Protection. Their office can be reached by phone at (800)551-4636 or through their online complaint form at https://fortress.wa.gov/atg/formhandler/ago/ComplaintForm.aspx.

Best,
