Vote no-witthhold against all the candidates of a REI board of directors that keeps refusing to provide detailed info about the 2025 election
How many REI members eligible to vote (how many are we, the board does not say) know that their directors still refuse to say how many members voted in the 2025 election and how many votes the respective candidates received (see all the 9 questions still unanswered).
They only admitted they were "disappointed" by the fact their candidates (the only allowed to run) did not get a majority! When member Mark Lloyd got tired of asking them for those numbers and filed a lawsuit to try ot have them obliged to be transparent, they hired Pacifica Law Firm to defend their point of view! How much are they paying to keep refusing to be transparent? Can we trust a board of directors that behaves that way? Read the outraged comments on reddit!I don't think so and the distrust also goes for the CEO as she is part of the board of directors. Do they really believe they can keep behaving that way without having to face serious negative consequences? I guess they are so used to their oligarchic ways they cannot imagine giving back to the membership one inch of their legitimate rights, like having each director validated by a favorable vote of the majority of the membership. There are now 3 such non elected directors, possibly in violation of the WA statutes for Coops. Are members going to be obliged to sue to get them out? How long can they remain in denial?
Rereading this post on January 21st I now think the REI COOP members and/or the REI unions are going to have to sue to force the unelected board "members" out. I think they 'll remain in denial and in opposition against anybody trying to challenge their oligarchic ways.
